When I moved to Föne in March and made my first trips towards the river, I was wondering about the ice on dry ground. I saw it both by the river and also along the small creek that runs through Föne. Last week when I took the small bridge over the creek, the water level was approximately like it was all summer and autumn. But today, it was flooding over the banks. There’s no flooding going on in Ljusnan that I know of so I’m pretty sure that there is an ice dam further downstream the creek. I would love to know what it looks like in Mon at the moment (Mon is the place I’ve been calling “flood plains” but last week I finally found out what the locals call it) but the snow is too deep so I have to wait for the snowmobiles to make their way down there so I have some tracks to follow. I always thought that the creek was overflowing because of the river, kind of causing a backwards flow in the creek, but now I suspect that they are separate. The creek is a causing a local flood while the river is at normal level.
