The Quiet Picture

Finding my voice in the silence of nature

Squirrel number 4

Category: canon 300mm,squirrel

Now that the squirrel mating season is approaching, I’ve been able to determine the sex of the squirrels. Reddie (which I renamed Freddie) and Stubby-Tail are most definitely boys, there’s no hiding the fact, if you know what I mean… By that definition, the squirrel in the picture is a girl. Initially I thought that this is Blackie, but after closer inspection, I think it’s not – Blackie is even darker, and the ear tufts are longer. But light can play tricks… we’ll see what they look like in sunlight (which would already hit the perch, if only it wasn’t overcast every weekend).

Hmm, this is like some sort of an armament race. You shoot with half a dozen squirrels and you have also gathered all the snow there. What comes next, will this torture ever end…will I ever be able to shoot squirrels again..

-No, I’m not jealous, I can handle this feeling as you see ;D

Nice pic BTW, perhaps a bit more contrast?

Hahaha, I was about to say something nice about the pic, but now I have to say something on Rane’s comment instead :P
I can’t see (at least on lappy-screen) how to increase contrast by not going for something not so natural. Is it perhaps just your brand new screen :D

Otherwise, forecast “promises” sunshine and nice weather for the coming weekend… I suppose more good pics next week (if only would any forecast actually be even near the truth over here-ish).

Hmm, dunno, perhaps I’d just adjust the gamma a bit; the midtones could be darker, imho.
