The Quiet Picture

Finding my voice in the silence of nature

Category: blog,website

The Quiet Picture blog has now been moved from Blogger to my site minnak.net (which is what you are currently reading). I have to tried to make sure that everything is working, but if you find any bugs, please let me know!

One thing I know is a bit strange is the layout in some of the old posts. This new blog layout is wider than the old design, so some of the formatting has been lost. But the content is the same of course, and I even managed to transfer all the comments to this new site – all except one, and finding that one missing comment is like looking for the proverbial needle so I left it!

Nice changes you have made for the layout! It is good to have another color alongside the black center area, and I like the repeating green in the title and links.
I noticed that coming back to the main page is a bit problematic after you’ve left your comment – the url on the up-left works, but it took some time to find it. -Is it possible to make a returning link somewhere here in the comment -area?

Thanks for the input! I have to investigate the backlink options. When I made the changes to the template, I was mostly working with the stylesheet. I’m not familiar with php so I left that part of the template pretty much alone, except for some simple changes to the sidebar. So I will submit this comment and see how it looks like for the commentators and hopefully I’ll come up with a simple solution. :)

Ok there was a really simple solution – use the sidebar. I added a link to the blog in the Author section. It’s probably not perfectly intuitive but should be easier to find than the faint link in the top left anyway. ;)

I also managed to edit the comments page (actually it doesn’t require any php knowledge, normal html code works fine) and added a backlink in the comments form, so I hope navigation got a bit easier now.

I have to say that this is not bad at all. Green borders apparently decreases the overall contrast and not white-text-on-black-background-contrast-problem does not appear that bad at all (as nagged elsewhere).

If this comment appears, then we can assume commenting works with pretty paranoid settings on Firefox, which would be a nice improvement as well.

Actually the text is not white… it’s light gray, which does make a big difference as compared to white on black.

Your comment seems to appear fine! :D

Thank you for providing us the backlink! Should we call it iBacklink because you use Mac ;P
